Here is just a little something to consider. I know a great deal of folks are tired out however here is my tip on how the strong athletes get stronger, I know that at time athletes get tired and feel as though they have had enough, however I can testify that when kids work hard they equip their bodies with the necessary ingredients they are able to compete at higher levels. No excuses learn the trait of hard work, it definitely pays off. By the way I would like to pass along to all I thank you all for your support for the 09 season, your support and inspiration to my son placed a major role in his success.

If your child placed 1^st – 4^th in the Virginia AAU National Qualifier held in Hampton on July 3 OR 1^st -6^th at the National Club Championships held in Florida, your athlete is eligible to compete in the 2009 AAU Junior Olympics to be held in Des Moines, Iowa (please visit www.aausports.org for a list of dates and the complete information packet). If you intend to have Technique register your child for competition in Iowa you must bring your $40 entry fee to practice no later than Thursday, July 17^th of this week. It is imperative that you pay your $40 fee to declare your intent to participate in Iowa. The Technique team registration for all athletes and coaches planning to attend the 2009 AAU Junior Olympics will be finalized on Friday. See the list below for those who are definitely attending and bring all questions pertaining to this email to tonight’s practice at HU.

I just received information that the Length of Event spectator fees for the National Club Championships in Orlando are $51 for adults and $40 for children. Age 3 and under admitted free. Registered athletes will receive their entry pass in Florida. All spectators should pay at the gate. Passes may be purchased by the day or for the length of the event.

There will be block work practice for all 100 and 200 meter sprinters today.
We will plan to work on block work at least twice a week in order to get
athletes used to running out of the blocks in preperation for the JO's as

The following listed athletes are able to continue practicing with Technique
Track Club through the National Qualifier meets. The athletes were chosen by
the coaches of the particular age groups based on various quality traits
such as but not limited to Character, Dedication, Commitment and Potential.
If you are planning on your athlete participating in the remaining track
meets be prepared to pay the required fees associated with those meets by
June 15th.  (Atlantic Coast - estimated $10-$20 per athlete, Flames -
estimated $13 per athlete, VA AAU National Qualifier - $25per athlete,
Florida - $40 per athlete). Please note - National Qualifier meets may
charge spectator fees - please be prepared.



I know today is the 15th, so if necessary, you may pay for the Flames meet
tonight and the remainder on or before June 22.

There will be practice today unless we experience inclement weather, all
parents be mindful of the potential weather conditions. Check the weather
for the area before making the drive or contact one of the designated
coaches. I will be checking with Charlene on the weather in the vicinity of
the practice site and will send out a last update at 4 pm. As always your
patience and understanding is greeatly appreciated.

This week is the last week for the Macklin Family to reside in Virginia. They will be moving to Florida to begin the next chapter in their lives. The pot luck surprise party was rained out up to a point, and then the skies cleared and the party began!! Thanks to everyone who attended, attempted to attend and who wanted to attend but could not. Since we were able to salvage the event, there will not be an alternate location for tonight. I know you were there in spirit. The food was delicious, and we were able to show the Macklins that we really appreciate them and will miss them. We will see them again in Orlando, so Kea and Kam – keep in shape and be ready. Coach Keith – you are a good guy through and through. Mrs. Macklin – thank you for allowing us to share your family and for your support of Technique.

Please note that we will attempt to have Practice/Pot Luck at Buckroe Beach as planned. However, there is a chance of thunderstorms for this evening, so we will exercise every caution as it relates to being outdoors for the practice/cookout. At the first sign of thunder or lightning, you will be expected to take shelter in your vehicles until the inclement weather passes.
