Hello All Sport Jujitsuka
I am writing you to let you know that The AAU will be
hosting its Jujitsu National Championships Saturday October 8th in
Clemmons North Carolina at the West Forsyth YMCA. Weigh-ins for this
event are Friday evening 5-8 p.m. at the YMCA.
This exciting event has something for every jujitsuka to
participate in. For those of you not familiar with the AAU it is a
first class organization that promotes healthy competition among
athletes. The AAU enjoys a well known and powerful national and
international reputation, and because we are an "amateur"
organization we can hold any AAU sporting event in all fifty states,
in all AAU sports.
The complete address for the venue is...
West Forsyth YMCA
1150 South Peacehaven Rd.
Clemmons NC 27012
(336) 712-2000
The AAU will have three types of competition at this years
tournament.
1. Freestyle Jujitsu
2. Grappling with the Gi
3. No Gi Grappling
Here is just a quick overview of these events (the complete rules
are posted on the AAU website www.aausports.org
http://aausports.org/sprt_MartialArts.asp ). The Freestyle event
gives points for strikes, throws, and ground control. the Gi and no
Gi events are grappling only and give points for throws, takedowns,
and ground control. all three events can be won by submission.
There have been some mistakes made on our posting of the tournament
packet. First our tournament packet is due by September 30th 2005
and second headgear is optional not required. Also black uniforms
may be worn by any competitor not just black belts.
All martial artists regardless of style are welcome. Don't miss out
on what will be a fun and exciting event.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 301-932-9494
Thank you
W. Sean McBroom
National Executive Director AAU Jujitsu
Ps. If you are in or around the Winston -Salem area please stop in
and check us out. I am sure you will like the format the AAU is
using. If nothing else send one or two of you instructor's or Black
belts to compete so you can hear first hand what the AAU is doing. I
know they and you will find AAU competition something you will want
to participate in, for years to come.
