We're just 2 weeks away from Victory at Valley Forge...
Taking the East coast by storm, Mancino Manufacturing Co., presents Victory at Valley Forge 2003 on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16, 2003, at the Valley Forge Convention Center located in historic Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Offering a 21,000 square foot arena, free parking for 2,500 vehicles, an on-site hotel with a fitness center and outdoor pool, as well as shopping, restaurants, and comedy and sports bars, the convention center is an ideal venue to host the weekend martial arts tournament.
On Saturday, August 16, competitors hit the mats in what is expected to be the largest grappling event ever held in Pennsylvania... the Victory at Valley Forge 2003 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling tournament. Both Gi and No-Gi Divisions will be developed for Men, Women, Children and Masters, with skill levels of Novice, Intermediate and Advanced for No-Gi Men and Belt Rankings of white, blue, purple, brown and black for Gi Men Divisions. Age and weight will divide the Children's Divisions, while Women and Masters Divisions will be divided by weight alone.
Multiple grappling tournament champion and North American Abu Dhabi Qualifiers competitor Anthony Argyros graciously sponsors 3 Super Fights during the Saturday tournament. In a No-Gi 195 pound Super Fight, Ken Kronenberg of Tai-Kai Jiu-Jitsu in Syracuse, New York, travels in to meet Noah Spear of High Level Jiu-Jitsu in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Kronenberg, a Machado brown belt, is a 2003 Abu Dhabi Championship veteran and Grapplers Quest Super Fight champion, while Spear, a Relson Gracie brown belt, is a Gracie Nationals champion and Pan Am medallist. In the first of two Gi Super Fights, Jon Stutzman of Jorge Grugel Jiu-Jitsu in Dayton, Ohio travels in to meet Jared Weiner of United BJJ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Stutzman, a Jorge Grugel brown belt and Weiner, a Lloyd Irvin brown belt, are both active on the grappling circuit, and have seen competition in the Gracie Worlds and the Mundials. The second Gi Super Fight features locals Danny Ives of Team Renzo Grace in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Paul Abbott of Team Royler Gracie-David Adiv in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Both are purple belts, and while Ives is well-known throughout the competition circuit, Abbott could be seen as a "sleeper" competitor.
Preregistration is just $40.00 and has been extended through August 9, 2003... but don't wait until last minute to get in your registration. Day of registration is only $50.00. One low price will enable competitors to compete in both Gi and No-Gi divisions. To assure fairness, competitors will only be allowed to compete at their skill level.
Please mail registrations to: Donald L. Ellixson, Jr., PO Box 631, Boyertown, PA 19512.
Doors open at 8:00AM on August 16, with registration and weigh-ins through tournament start time of 10:00AM. The tournament will begin with the No-Gi divisions, followed by the No-Gi Super Fight, the two Gi Super Fights and right into the Gi divisions.
