Carlos Machado, internationally recognized and respected principal in
the RCJ Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Network, announced today that he
has retained a prominent Dallas law firm to enforce his registered
trademark rights on the Machado name.
Mr. Machado has the exclusive right granted by the United States
Patent and Trademark Office to manufacture, market, and distribute
Jiu-Jitsu uniforms (kimonos and gis), and other martial arts
clothing, equipment, and accessories under the Machado name and
trademark.
Machado has recently discovered that there are a number of
individuals and entities that are either manufacturing or selling
kimonos, gis, and other martial arts clothing and accessories under
the Machado name.
Says Mr. Machado, "Those who manufacture, market, or distribute
kimonos, gis, t-shirts and other martial arts clothing and
accessories under the Machado name without my written permission are
violating my trademark rights granted by the United States
Government. They will receive a written request to stop doing this.
If they refuse they will be promptly sued by my attorneys in federal
court for money damages, legal fees, and an injunction to stop their
activities."
