Our ice time is in jeopardy.  Here is an excerpt from an email I got from the manager.

Due to the lackluster attendance Jake Geverd (owner) feels that it may not be worthwhile to continue with this as we are expecting more teams next year and will need those primetime ice slots.

If we want to continue to have ice time next year we really must boost our attendance.  The rink get's about $300/hour for ice time and don't even come close to providing the revenue for the rink right now.

Recently, there has been some confusion about the SportsQuest Short
Track
Championship competition (Dale City, VA - Feb 21-22).

This event is co-hosted by Potomac Speedskating Club and Virginia
Speedskating.  Potomac is a fully approved Member Club for USS and the
competition will have everything needed to meet sanction requirements.

We hope that you will visit the USS schedule web site, download the
competition information, and send your skaters to this exciting two-day
event held on an Olympic size ice sheet.

It's a great opportunity to tune up for the national age group
championships
and the AmCup finals in March.

SportsQuest, the title sponsor, has donated a $3,000 purse, which will
be
shared by the Open A men and women skaters.  Please visit their web site
to
learn more about them: www.sportsquest.biz as they intend to be a
long-term
sponsor and speed skating promoter.

We hope that other sponsors being actively recruited will provide prizes
for
other racing categories.

Direct flights into Wash, DC area airports are cheap!

Saturday night entertainment will include a "Bingo social" for the
competitors and their family.
