Dear Cambrian;

Mr.Bandula Premachandra and Gunachandra de Silva have been  good cricketers who played for the college.I was a member of the team from 1957,58 & 59 third term when I had to leave college to join the Irrigation.

Later Gunachandra played with me  for Galle CC for a number of years in all forms 3,2 & 1 divisions, where I came to know him closely.

Let me join you and other members  in the convey of our remembrances and sympathies to their family members.

Wish both of them attain "Nibbana"

What is Waterfalls.lk ?

Waterfalls are unique creation of nature which exemplifies it’s true beauty. Enriched with a plethora of natural resources. Sri Lanka boasts approximately three hundred and fifty waterfalls.

In comparison to other countries Sri Lanka is rich in it’s aquatic resources. Most of the waterfalls in the island have been identified by now. Sri Lanka could be considered as the country having the most number of waterfalls. In terms of it’s Geographic extent. The destruction of forests have cost a lowering of the rainfalls resulting the drying of natural springs which has become a severe threat to the existence of these waterfalls. By initiating steps to conserve rain forests and keeping the environment clean this valuable asset of nature could be preserved for the next generations.

Due to various nefarious activities practiced by mankind valuable natural resources such as these waterfalls are windingly at a rapid pace. It is our bounden duty to preserve these natural gifts for the generations to come with such an utmost cause in my mind. I explore the waterfalls in Sri Lanka capturing it’s glamour in order to give a truly unforgettable experience to the enthusiasts of nature as well as to others. I have done this through this web site www.waterfalls. lk

Through this web site it has enabled public who are unaware of the waterfalls in Sri Lanka as well as those who have not been to such places the necessary information of the waterfalls and their locations. They have the privilege to download the videos and pictures capturing the glamour of its true beauty.

However these waterfalls are excellent creations of Mother Lanka.. I wish the Sri Lankan Waterfalls will remain ever so long soothing the minds of both local and foreign tourist.

Thank You !

Dear Friends,

I have a list of names of teachers given to me by our Secretary Mr Dilwin Mendis. I will pass it down to everybody tommorrow.

The list contains  names of about 20 teachers who taught the college during the 1950s.

We intend to felicitate 10 teachers yearly and the senior most teachers will be felicitated first.

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Dear Tilak,

We have not had a meeting with the committee appointed for this purpose. However, it is good to get suggestions from the Old Boys.

We have to start somewhere and it is necessary to present these teachers with a reaonable gift and the ceremony, I believe should be held at a decent place with all facilities and give them a good meal. So depending on the cost and the collection, the number of teachers could be increased.

Thanks

Felicitating of Past Teachers.

My sincere apologies for the late response, which was only due to oversight and nothing else.

I think it is a wonderful suggestion and hope that you have not yet finalized the list of teachers to be felicitated in October.

Let me take this opportunity to add a few more names to the list of teacher who are to be felicitated / remembered in the coming month.

1.      Mr. K.P. Bandula               (O/L Chemistry teacher in 70s’),

2.      Mr. Colvin Rajakaruna       (English teacher and Prefect of Discipline in 70s’),

3.      Mrs Nannette Fernando      (another English teacher in 70s’).

I strongly believe that we owe a great deal of our success to them for their very inspiring yet very unorthodox way of imparting knowledge to young minds.

Dear AVM Samararatne,

I suggest that we felicitate 30 - 50 at one go as otherwise by the time their name comes up some of those who are living may be dead and gone. We will help in whatever way to support this wonderful gesture.

Dear Tilak, Ari & many others,
The idea to felicitate former teachers was mooted after it was suggested by two of our distinguished old boys.
I responded, after seen that mail with my suggestions but I am in no way involved in planning this event.
I am just a member of the association and worst of all is presently domiciled in another country
I am as lost as you are, as far as the criteria of selection, composition, date, venue etc etc are concerned.
However I was assured by AVM Shriyan Samararathne that he is now in possession of a list of 20 former teachers prepared by Mr. Delwin Mendis and that he would publish the list in this forum for everyone to see.
Also that they are going to start with teachers who have served in 50s first and thereafter felicitate at least 10 former teachers in subsequent years.
I sincerely hope that this would clear up the confusion and the list would be published soon before the dykes break as my inbox is already inundated with mails from many seeking information.
Thank you all.
Sasanka

I too agree with Mr. Gemunu De Silva’s request and if the organizers can publish the prepared list, it would be much better to clear the air.

Sasanka

Felicitating of Past Teachers.

My sincere apologies for the late response, which was only due to oversight and nothing else.

I think it is a wonderful suggestion and hope that you have not yet finalized the list of teachers to be felicitated in October.

Let me take this opportunity to add a few more names to the list of teacher who are to be felicitated / remembered in the coming month.

1.      Mr. K.P. Bandula               (O/L Chemistry teacher in 70s'),
2.      Mr. Colvin Rajakaruna       (English teacher and Prefect of Discipline in 70s'),
3.      Mrs Nannette Fernando      (another English teacher in 70s').

I strongly believe that we owe a great deal of our success to them for their very inspiring yet very unorthodox way of imparting knowledge to young minds.
