Janet,
My Mother and I are truly, and deeply saddened with your news. We surely
thought that since Ken had responded, that he would be alright somehow.....There
are never good enough words to express at a time like this, that will help
someone to feel better....My Mother and I have been crying along with you, and
our hearts are heavy....I guess I can only really say this: I know that I am
only a new friend to you, and there may not be a lot that I can do, but I want
you to please know that I am here for you! If there is anything you would like
to talk about etc., please do not hesitate to get in touch with me...I know that
you will not have time, nor will you feel like looking at mail etc., but please,
if you need anything at all, please drop me a line. You know how to get in
touch with me...I do hope that you have family, and or friends that are around
you, that will be there for you...We will be thinking of you, and praying for
you! Please get in touch when you can, as I don't want to lose touch with my
new friend.....Lots of love and hugs to you!!! And may god bless you and help
you through this period of your suffering and grief....All my best,
~Venus~

My wonderful husband of 19 years passed away on November 19th.

To those of you who knew Ken was in the hospital, I gratefully thank you for
keeping him in your daily thoughts and prayers.

God bless you all.

George Steinbrenner spends time at his office

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — George Steinbrenner returned to his office at the Yankees'
spring training complex for the first time since New York won the World Series
last week.
The 79-year-old owner spent more than three hours with family members and team
officials looking back at the franchise's 27th title and discussing plans for
the upcoming season. Also attending were son Hal Steinbrenner, who succeeded his
father as managing general partner; daughters Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal and
Jessica Steinbrenner; and special assistant Tino Martinez.

Steinbrenner uses a wheelchair because of bad knees and has made few public
appearances since turning over control of the team to Hal last November.
Steinbrenner attended the first two games of the World Series but watched the
Game 6 clincher from his home in Tampa.

He really is becoming the good will ambassador for the Yankees. Lighting up the
Empire State Bldg, thesignings last year, and now the one yesterday. I'm so
glad the yankee front office finally realizes what a gem they have in Tino.

I only wish there was more coverage (and prior announcements) of events like
this.

I had a problem accesing newscom. But, go to Getty Images and put in Tino's
name. There are loads of pictures at the Empire State Building there. Of
course, he looks fantastic as usual.

Hmmm,
When I looked a little bit ago, they were on page 1. But sometimes for some
unknown reason they disappear and reappear a bit later. There's about 30 pics.

Hello Ladies,
I just wanted to send out a big 'thank you' to the ladies that offered to
record the Tino centerstage for my Mother...I hope you didn't feel like I just
ignored your replies...Unfortunately I cannot remember who you all were right
now as I write this, as I have been very ill with a 103 degree temp the last few
days...I just wanted you all to know that I appreciate the offers!
I also wanted to ask any of you out there, if the Yankees should win the World
Series, will anyone be recording the parade, and would it be possible to get a
copy? I understand if not, but I thought I would ask.
Hope you all take care out there, and please do your best NOT to be getting
sick, 'believe me' you don't want that. God Bless!

Yeah, right... ever the modest man. I'd bet anything it wouldn't take him that
long. Maybe that long to where he'd feel comfortable, yeah... but he'd be able
to hit and hit very well waaaaay before then. He's still in great shape and
form (hubba, hubba)... and the hitting would be like riding a bike for him.
It's crazy how humble he is. :^)

Hi Everyone!

I'm going to dvd the Centerstage tomorrow. If I have room, I will add the Yankees Magazine I caught today. It had Tino's Yankee Clipper ride, and he talks about the boat ride to the stadium etc. I will also add some footage that I have from Yankees on Deck, etc.

I have heard from a few that want copies. If you would like a copy, please send me an email with your address. I want to get them out to you all by the end of the week.

Go Yankees!

By Mira Wassef
Times Herald-Record
Posted: October 29, 2009 - 2:00 AM
NEW YORK — With the Yankees back in the World Series, many of the former Yankee
greats, such as Bernie Williams, Reggie Jackson and Tino Martinez have come out
to soak in the postseason atmosphere.

Martinez helped lead the Yankees to four World Series championships in 1996,
1998, 1999 and 2000.

The former first baseman hit a huge home run in Game 1 of the 1998 World Series
against the Padres. Martinez hit a grand slam to the upper deck on a 3-2 count
in the win. The Yankees went on to sweep the Padres.

Martinez took a few moments to talk to the Times Herald-Record before Game 1 of
the World Series at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

How does it feel for you to see the Yankees back in the World Series?

"It's very exciting because I know how hard they've worked and what a great team
they have. I was fortunate to play with Mariano, Derek, Jorge and Joe Girardi,
so to see them get back after a long delay is exciting for me. But I'm happy for
them as well."

How do you think this team compares to the great teams of the 1990s?

"I think they're just as good. These guys are great, but they have to win the
World Series to be considered a great team. The way they handle themselves, and
position by position, they're just as good, if not better than we were."

Do you think you can still hit?

"Oh, I don't know about that. I would really, really have to take like two or
three months of working out and hitting, but I couldn't just step out there and
hit."

What's your favorite memory?

"There were so many great things and so many great memories of being here
because I was fortunate to play here. All the last outs of the World Series and
all the World Series I played in. That type of atmosphere is something you can
never forget."

What do you think of the new Yankee Stadium?

"I love it. I love it. Mr. Steinbrenner has not only been a great part of the
Yankees, but of baseball, as well. He built this and hopefully the Yankees can
bring him a title in the first year here."

Do you have a World Series prediction?

"I think the Yankees are going to win because they have home-field advantage.
But I think it's going to be a tough series. The Phillies are a really good
team. It will probably go seven games."

Our man TINO was just being his usual intense self... arms crossed and eyes
focused on the final pitch.

I wish they would've shown his reaction after that final strike, though. I was
hoping for it.

Did y'all catch the split second moment when our TINO was shown on FOX last

standing in the luxury suite just before Mo threw the final strike of the final
