Launched in the summer of 1993, Cheltenham Racing Ltd., (sponsored by Cheltenham Racecourse) aims to give its members the thrill of a close involvement with racehorses and the chance to fulfil the ultimate dream of winning races at Cheltenham - a feat achieved 5 times to date.
Our horses have been trained by some of the country's leading trainers (including Nigel Twiston-Davies, David Nicholson, Venetia Williams, Alan King, Jonjo O'Neill, Tom George and Philip Hobbs) and we have enjoyed 228 runs of which 31 have been winners. Our horses have finished in the first four 60.08% of the time with a winning strike rate of 13.59%.
The privileges of membership are numerous and include a close association with the horses, trainers and jockeys on racedays and throughout the season when stable visits are arranged. We provide free admission for Members and free facilities for Members and their guests when the Club's horses run at Cheltenham and also two tickets for the Annual General Meeting (October Meeting), 12th December, New Year's Day and the General Meeting (April). Members also receive two Club badges and a car label for Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle Day at The Festival. When we have runners elsewhere, reduced admission for Members and free corporate facilities (if possible) for Members and their guests are organised.
News is gained through a national rate Information Line which is updated regularly, e-mail and also through the pages of this Yahoo! Group.
Jockeys to have worn the company's distinctive royal blue and emerald green silks include Carl Llewellyn, Graham Bradley, Norman Williamson, Mick Fitzgerald, A P McCoy, Richard Johnson, Robert Thornton, P J Brennan - and even Frankie Dettori! "Zis horse will never win a race" - referring to Zaitoon after his first run for us at Chester. (Zaitoon won soon after and went on to win five further races and almost £50,000 in prize money!).
