Here is what was discussed, decided, etc. For those who were unable to make it
or were not notified all questions, comments and ideas are welcome.
Question of the night: How many kids are coming? We don't know. We are
designing the clinic to accomodate
3 different age groups. We will blend the groups as necessary if we don't have
a lot of kids.
Action Items:
Ann: Bring fruit, sign in spreadsheet, ice, poster with clinic schedule, name
tags, sharpie, certificates/awards (if Natalia can't)
Natalia: Table, training bibs, orange cones, ice, Na Fianna Banner,
certificates/awards
Dugger: CNG Banner, water (3 cases), med kit, orange cones, bibs, obscenely
large cooler
Bam Bam: Tent, ice, scoreboard
Schedule for the Day:
9:00 - 9:10 Sign in
9:10 - 9:15 Brief welcome and intro to Gaelic Football
9:15 - 10:15 Skills with designated age groups
10:20 - 10:40 Break with Adult Scrimmage
10:45 - 11:15 Kid Scrimmage
11:20 - 11:40 Competitions
11:40 - 12:00 Awards, Certificates, Clean Up
Competitions:
Longest Kick
Most Accurate Kick
Most Accurate Hand Pass
Best Solo
Group Leaders and Registration:
Registration and Sideline Help: Kiley
Under 8: Natalia and P
9 to 12: Bam Bam and Ivett
> 12: Dugger and Erin
(If you have a preference, please let me know)
Skills to Focus on:
Body catch, low catch, high catch (older kids only),
punt kick, hand pass, bounce, solo (older kids only)
I will try to have a packet (list of the skills and games/drills to use to
practice skill) made up for
each age group and send them with Meghan on Tuesday for you guys to review
before Saturday. I will have 5
packets per group ready for you on Saturday.
When you get to the field on Saturday we will set up, review the packets and
assign everyone to an age
group. Someone (any volunteers?) will divide us up into two teams for our
scrimmage. At least one of us
will need to remain on the sidelines with the kids during the scrimmage. Plan
to be on the field with
the kids to help with their scrimmage. Scrimmages will be age appropriate.
Each of you will then lead
your group of kids through their competitions. I will run around like an idiot
and help you however I can,
arrange cones, goals, and keep track of who won what to write their names on
their awards. We will then
have a brief award ceremony and a quick clean up (the field is needed
immediately at noon). I will then go somewhere to partake in an adult beverage.
Please join me!!!

Good kick of meeting last week, sets a good tone for the rest of the year.
Ronan apparently is the trivia king of the club but we'll have to see how he does on the hurling field this year.
The club also extends it's condolences to Kieran Claffey on the recent bereavement of his mother.
GOLF - May 10th
Hopefully everyone received the email from Andrea about the gold tournament the date for which is now a confirmed May 10th (change from last week) at Gold Creek Golf Club in Dawsonville, GA. Sign up now and mark your calenders. Sponsor and prizes welcome and needed. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year so let's make it a great success.

St Patrick's Day Parade
This Saturday breakout your hurleys for the Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade. Clan na Gael is lined up with the Fado's/St. Baldrick's float. Lineup of the parade for our group begins at 10:00. The marshaling area is at West Peachtree and Ralph McGill (in front of the Civic Center Marta Station).
When you get there, all you have to do is ask a parade marshal where is the Fado's/St. Baldrick's float in Lane "A"!
It will be time enough to get there by 11:00 am. Have to do a little decorating for the truck and I shall have jersey's etc so we can all look the part.
The step off is at 12:00 on Saturday, March 15, at Peachtree and Ralph McGill. The parade ends at Underground Atlanta where there will be a St. Patrick's Day Festival.
There will be entertainment, vendors, and children activities.
Of course there will also be a mandatory visit to the new Fado in Buckhead, as one of our sponsor's they look froward to our support.
For additional directions, please see the website www.stpatsatlanta.com. There is map of the line up area etc.
Look forward to seeing a big turn out for Saturday and to a great year for hurling in Atlanta.

Latest word from Dave Olson is these are his possible senarios,
1)training classes on thursday (april 17) and friday
(april 18). games would be on april 19 with possible
player training sessions coinciding with the games.
2)training classes on friday (april 18) and sunday
(april 20). games on april 19 with possible player
training sessions available between games.
All depends on interest and what CrokePark can support. Also
may be a
possible referrees clinic.
Dave seems to think #1 is more likely for some reason. I'm sure that
attending the games on the 19th only is a possibility also.
Major question is who is interested and willing to commit.

right on SYDNEY ST. (Sydney is the first right after you turn onto
Boulevard)
-Follow Sydney for one block. It will dead
end into the entrance gate to Grant Park. Go through the entrance
gate
-Follow the road in the park as the tennis courts
and basketball courts pass on your right.
-Park anywhere, the field is down the hill once you
pass the basketball courts.

Well Guys as always the fine Gaelic footballers of Atlanta are in
demand, passsing on an invitation from the Atlanta Kookaburras Aussie
Rules Football Team.
It's a good outlet for the fall, of course hurling will also be going
on this fall so don't over commit.
Jim
Now that the football (Gaelic at least) season is over, I'd like to let
you know about the local Aussie Rules competition in Atlanta. We call
it the AARFL and it starts in mid September. You can find out all about
it at aarfl.com.
Basically, it's a six-week competition among 4 teams.
We play as many a side as we can (usually 7-10). It's a competitive yet
friendly atmosphere and players with no experience are always welcome.
We see this league as both a stepping stone to our intercity squad (the
Kookaburras) and a recreational league for those who don't want to
travel with the Kookaburras.
Since there's no travel it only takes a couple of hours on a Saturday,
excluding any after-match festivities. And your Gaelic skills will
cross over very well.
Johnny, Padraig and Jim (c'mon Jim you know you want to) will be
joining us. If you want to also, just send me an email at
abmobley@....
Hope to see you on the oval this fall,
Alan
Howdy,
A successful trip to Charlotte last weekend a little light on numbers
but with a few lads from there we gave them a good run for their money
in the preparation for the North Americans despite the heat.
Quote of the weekend goes to Brian Carroll - "My body does not function
well in the triple digits". High for the day 103 F.
Last of the local 7 aside games will be held this Sunday the 19th,
4:30pm. Field set up at 4 pm.
Be sure to get out for the game and some wrap up pints after the game.
Also the unveiling of the new Clan Na Gael men's kit sponsored by JCB.
The days of the aerodynamic jerseys are behind us.
Nice way to wrap up the 2007 season. Still room for new players.
See the website for directions to the field. www.atlantagaa.org
Members of the men's team are encouraged to attend ladies training on
Wednesday nights at Tolleson Park, 3590 King Springs Road, Smyrna, GA
Training starts at 7 pm as there are no floodlights.
This Friday August 17th there is Pints on the Patio Fundraiser in Fado
in Buckhead. Come on out for a pint, kicks off at 6pm
See you Sunday for the games and a few beers after,
Jim
