Have a great Thanksgiving!
Award banquet for top two finishers for all events
Live web streaming for selected matches (Open Singles final for sure)
Free two-night accommodation for out-of-town over 2450 players (limited number of rooms)
Four events have sold out. As of today, we've received 195 entries. Most likely will break 200 - a record setting in the ICC tournament history.
We manage
to expand the capacity a little bit but still some of the entries
won't get their spots. (First come first serve) We will send out a notice after Wednesday. You
can either:
U1750 is full. The capacity is 32 and we have 39 entries so far. Only the first 32 entries will be guaranteed a spot. We are trying to find a solution to increase the capacity but there is no guarantee. If we haven't received your entries for the event, you definitely won't get a spot in this event.
U1950 is also full. (48) If you haven't turned in your entry, please do not enter the event.
U2100 is approaching the max cap (48), too. If you intend to play the U2100 event, do so now!
Top 16 players as of 11/16/2009: ICC California State Tournament
The U1950 event is limited to 32 entries since we will need to rearrange the court for the Open event. As of last night, there were 28 entries already. I'm sure it will be sold out by the deadline. If you want to play the event, turn in your entry early. First come first serve.

the water running with the sinks plugged please let us know.

Lily Zhang and Ariel Hsing won the Girls’ Doubles in Chile. The young
North Americans dominated a one-sided match from the beginning against
the Brazilians Fukushima/Kumahara.
The Boys’ final also ended with a 3-0. Alvaro Robles and Marcelo Aguirre overcame the Eastern European pair Merzlikin/Novota.
Both, the Girls’ and the Boys’ winner had the most difficult moments in their respective semi-final.
Keeping the Focus Thirteen
year old Lily Zhang said after the one-sided final. “We had to work
hard for the success and keep the focus because all the players here
are strong.” Asked about their strengths, she did not hesitate. “We
work well together and we communicate.”
The most difficult
moment for Zhang/Hsing was in the semi-final when they were 1-2 down in
games against the Argentineans Ana Codina/Augustina Iwasa.
The
top seeded Americans also prevailed because their hardest opponents,
the second seeded Asian pair Lam/Li, suffered an early exit in the
quarter-finals against Low/Meneses of the Chile.
No Luck for Chile’s Boys The
Boys’ final ended with 3-0 in favour of the top seeded pair as well.
Marcelo Aguirre of Paraguay won the title with his Spanish partner
Alvaro Robles against the Slovak-Russian pair Samuel Novota/Taras
Merzlikin.
In the semi-finals the winners-elect ousted the
locals Felipe Olivares and Matias Contreras in four games. In the Team
event, the same doubles match ended in favour of the Chileans, who
however lost the whole Team match yesterday as well as the Doubles
match today. In the end it was again Chilean sadness and
Spanish-Paraguayan happiness.

They just won the Junior Girls' Doubles! It is not over yet. Both of them also advanced from their preliminary groups in the Junior Girls' Singles. So far, They've finished 2nd in the Junior Girls' team and 1st in the Junior Girls' Doubles. Not bad at all!
All US cadets/juniors have finished their competition but Ariel. Ariel will play the Junior Girls Singles final later today. She will play against the tournament top seed - the formidable Singaporean chopper Isabelle Li. Isabelle is not a stranger to the Bay Area. She won the Girls' Singles title in the 2008 International Children's Games in San Francisco. http://blog.battf.com/2008/07/42nd-internationals-childrens-games.html
Lily was stopped by Isabelle in the semi-final in both the Cadet Girls Singles and Junior Girls Singles. Nevertheless, a great performance by Lily.
Apparently, lacking of choppers to practice with, both Lily and Ariel had troubles with choppers. However, the ITTF Media Coordinator Marius said it very well, "In the Team final, Hsing lost clearly, but skill comes with practice
and the more Hsing can play against Li, the bigger her chances will be
to beat her one day."
Please check out the result for the first week. 20 contests/100 matches were played! http://blog.battf.com/
There will be 18 contests for the 2nd week. Please also check the above link for the schedule and location information.
Most teams have done a great job submitting the result and photo. We were able to update most of the result on Monday and everything on Wednesday. Espeically thanks to Dan Lin and Long Nguyen who took lots of great photos.
It will be a nice practice for home team to touch base with the visiting team before their contest.
Thanks.

I believe Kevin beat everyone in his group last friday. So the score with Joe should be 3:1 and Kevin won. I wonder if it is you that posted the results or if you can corrected it.
Thanks for lots to the participating clubs and volunteers' hard work. We'll start tomorrow.
20 team contests will be played in the first weekend! (100 matches)
Home teams, please check out your schedule and let me know if there is any error. I'm sure you already know the requirement of uniform and result submission issues. The score sheet and the submission guideline are on the BATTF blog.
