Today was my first day back after a 2 month hiatus. While it was great to be
back into the Saturday routine, it was somewhat of a disappointment that we had
such a small showing. While very windy, it was otherwise a nice day. Maybe it
was toooo much turkey and goodies, or too much shopping, or lots of colds going
around, that resulted in the small showing.
On the up side....For the day we had 14 players for the day, and did get 2
games in.
GAME 1- Team won 20-3 in 6 innings.
Team 1- Jaime, Tommy, Jose, Jim, Marc, Rob, Eric
Team 2- JR, Luis, Jess, Mark H, Liz, Seth, Roy
GAME 2- Team 2 won 7-6 in 5 innings.
Team 1- Jose, Luis, Jess, Marc, Mark, Roy
Team 2-JR, Jaime, Jim, Eric, Tommy, Liz, Rob
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE OUT NEXT WEEK

I like the poll idea rob. I was actually thinking to myself, dahm 'you CAN teach
an old dog new trick!' :) it was somewhat confusing, but if someone just spend a
little time on reading it can become pretty straight forward! i am sure you can
come up with other ingenious idea for these type of poll. hat and shirt idea
sound really cool! keep it going.

Subject: [alamedasoftball] LATEST POLL CLOSED
I closed the poll posted last night (on Doan's idea) because of Yahoo's fucked
up formatting, which resulted in the questions being resequenced making the
thing being difficult to follow. Why they can't display a poll as written is a
mystery to me.
ANYWAY I'll be coming up with another method to gather the info in the next few

alamedasoftball group:
A couple of weeks ago DOAN brought up the idea of getting some type of Alameda
Soft Ball apparel such as a T-shirt or cap. Note that we would NOT all be
wearing them at the same time (except by coincidence) .This poll is to determine
the level of interest in this idea, AND to determine the preferences of those
that are interested.
o 1A: I like the idea, and would like to get a T-shirt. (Answer questions 2)
o 1B: I like the idea and would like to get a cap (answer questions 3)
o 1C: I like the idea and would like to get both. (Answer questions 2 & 3)
o 1D. I don’t like the idea (don’t answer any more questions)
o 2 A: I think a reasonable cost for a T-shirt would be $5 or less
o 2B: $5-$10
o 2C :$10-15
o 2D: up to $20
o 2E. I would want to have more than 1
o 2F: I would want my choice of a number on it.
o 2G: I would want my name on it
o 3A I think a reasonable cost for a cap would be: $5 or less
o 3B: $5-$10
o 3C $10-15
o 3D: up to $20

DeMarini Calls Out Dedicated Players for Factory Teams Program
100 slowpitch teams will be selected to receive special equipment packages
Hillsboro, OR—October 6, 2009--DeMarini, makers of the world's most
technologically advanced bats, is sounding the call for their Factory Teams
program. DeMarini islooking for lower-division slowpitch softball teams who play
for the love of the game and would like to be part of the DeMarini sponsorship
package program.
What's included in the buy-in package:
DeMarini bat
Player's bag on wheels
Team shirt featuring poly-sublimate moisture management
Game-ready hat
Batting Glove
Teams will be able to choose the ASA, USSA, NSA and ISA-approved bat they want
for each package, including the latest and greatest DeMarini bats such as:
The Fly Swatter
Misery Loves Company
J2
The ONE
ONE 12
375
F-4
Steel & Ultimate Weapon.
Click on link below to check the bats specs and a pic, most bats are listed.
http://www.softballfans.com/reviews/company.php?v=DeMarini
"It's a clear way to show that we are dedicated to slowpitch and to supporting
the
players who make it great," said Jerry Garnett, Global Marketing Manager of
DeMarini. "We're putting our money where our mouth is and offering players the
best gear in the business at a fraction of the cost. We believe that our 2010
bat line-up represents some of the best bats in the industry and this program is
one of the many tools that we will use in the months to come to reposition
DeMarini as the number one slowpitch brand. Once players get their hands on our
new slowpitch models, they won't settle for anything else."
To qualify for this unprecedented program, teams must be C, D or E level, and
can be men's, women's or co-ed teams. Each team must commit to at least 10
packages to be eligible for sponsorship. Pricing for the packages will be
approximately half off of retail value based on the bat chosen. Teams will also
get a DeMarini factory team vinyl banner to fly at games, and photos of each
factory team will be featured on the DeMarini website. Packages will begin
shipping in January, so teams will have their new DeMarini gear in plenty of
time for spring training. . Only 100 teams will be invited to this program, so
call early for the best chance to be part of the program
Please forward to your softball playing friends to see if they would be
interested as well the package will open up quickly and fill up fast. If your
interested money will be collect as soon as they open up the program which will
be in a week or two
100 team (Factory Team) buy-in deal program that will allow for teams to
purchase a bat (USSSA or ASA), bag on wheels, batting gloves, Factory Team poly
shirt and Factory Team hat for 225.00 directly from the factory. This price will
not include a replacement bat but one replacement per player, per season on our
factory teams can be purchased for 125.00. Any player that needs a replacement
bat will contact our program coordinator and order one with a credit card. That
player will then be issued a return authorization number (RAN) to send in their
damaged bat. If the damaged bat is not returned within 2 weeks we will remove
that player and possibly the team from the program. We want to make the
replacement process as painless as possible for teams and players in the program
but we cannot and will not allow for it to be abused.
The reason that the program is set up at the 225.00/125.00 pricing was to keep
the price way down for players that do not need multiple bats. The thought is
that probably 25-35% of the people that play C, D or E ball in the men's,
women's or co-ed programs will not need multiple bats per season. All products
will ship out to teams in mid January. If your are not local and can meet to
pick up there will be a charge to mail or ship package to you also there will be
taxes ontop of package just for FYI to you all It will be the new IDP player bag
they are possible thinking about a 2 bat package also.
It is a great Deal dont miss out this yr

if there's a dwindling number for the winter we will still have enough for a

Why dont we create either a shirt or cap for alameda softball; not only are we getting our group name out there so more know about it but we also have something holding us together as a group and proud display (especially some of the OGs in here), so if there's a dwindling number for the winter we will still have enough for a game or two or three.
All we need to do is come up with a logo/picture (graphic designer/photgraphe r), ask around for quote on printing the shirt or hat (see level of interest, and how many we might need to order then place it with someone who can do it at a comparable price). As for the shirt or hat, we should only hand it out to those who been playing at least two years with us or something (someone should determine the eligibility for getting this article - Rob?); instead of handing them out willy nilly. The person who get the shirt can pay for it, or at a discount or something. Price to be determine later?!
Anyway, just an idea and anyone who have any kind of expertise in doing these things before just shout out. Me on the other hand, got good idea from time to time, but no follow through! :( Also, yay or nay on the idea?!
Have a good week all!
why dont u just find a sponsor to pay the cost, you'll probably pay around $300-400 out of pocket to get the logo and shirts designed (30+qty)...and i think anyone who shows up on saturdays and has fun should be "eligible" to get a shirt, not the whole 2 year eligibilty idea

Brilliant Idea, MVP! Now how 'bout if you put your $$$ where you're mouth is and pay for it all. We'll even let you have your own "MVP in Charge" cap and shirt. j/k, lmao

Last Saturday was another great afternoon of baseball fun. It was a gorgeous,
warm Saturday.
We played 2 games with 20 participating players.
We anxiously await the triumphant return of our fearless leader, Rob "Iron Man"
Currier. Everyone extends best wishes for your continued speedy recovery.
Kudos to Mark H. for his spectacular over the shoulder catch in left field,
preventing a sure home run. Mark's catch was the highlight of the month.

As Bay Area sports fans find themselves mired in disappointment and near

spectacular softball action.
As usual, we were blessed with wonderful weather, great company, and good fun.
We played 3 games with 26 participating players. Welcome to Sandra.
Our fearless leader, Rob "Iron Man" Currier, made a special appearance to say
hello, catch some rays, and cheer us on. Everyone misses you Rob and extends
best wishes for your speedy recovery. It is just not the same without you!

In other news, Marc Torney has filed a declaration with the Alameda City Council
calling for acknowledgment and recognition of the Alameda Softball Groups'
"Manifest Destiny" of Krusi Field, stating "It is obligatory that all Alameda
citizens awow to the innate, unalienable, and irrefutable rights of the Alameda
Softball Group to complete, total, and sole control and access of the entire
Krusi Field complex. It is our heritage, our right, our destiny."
Mr. Torney, carry that torch. May the wind be at your back as you go forth.
See you all tomorrow for another wonderful day of softball.
