"The USAT Official Club of Sarasota and the surrounding areas of Florida." Originaly established in 2005 as the Sarasota Sharks Tri Club, our members are the founders of and race committee behind the first ever Olympic Distance Triathlon in the Sarasota area, the very successful Sharks Classic. As Sharks, we had outgrown the confines of our tank that was originally provided by the local YMCA. In June 2009, after raising over $50,000 to benefit the YMCA and it's programs/projects over the last few years, The Sarasota Sharks Tri Club collectively voted and moved out from under the umbrella of the YMCA to establish our own 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. In Sept. 2009, our members voted to change our club name to reflect our disassociation with the YMCA. The formerly known as (and semi-world famous) Sarasota Sharks Tri Club will now be known as the SARASOTA STORM TRI CLUB. Our club is now based out of Serendipity, located within the Country Club of Sarasota. We currently communicate via the SarasotaStormTriClub YahooGroup.
