TNA Superstar Auctions Costume to Help Inner-City Youth

(Tampa, FL) – TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling superstar Awesome Kong is making an unprecedented effort to help inner-city youth.

The dynamic pro wrestler is planning to auction off the primary costume/outfit that she’s been wearing for the past four years, in order to raise funds for her nonprofit organization.

Kong’s “Fountains for Youth” aims to begin launching programs designed to make today’s teens aware of high-risk concerns like drugs, teen pregnancy, high school dropouts, etc.

“It’s a peer-to-peer kind of program,” Awesome Kong said recently.

The first program that “Fountains for Youth” hopes to launch is an outreach group called STAHR, which stands for Somebody’s Talking About High Risk.

The first step is the auction, in which Awesome Kong will, through eBay, put up for bid the very same outfit (gloves and boots not included) that has seen her through the biggest matches of her explosive career.

“It’s been with me for almost five years, but I’m willing to part with it in order to raise money for my organization’s mission,” she said.

Industry observers say that such an auction hasn’t been done before.

“Every program that we will launch will be a ‘fountain’ of knowledge for kids,” Kong said in explaining the origin of the “Fountains for Youth” moniker.

Kong said the STAHR program will involve kids being matched with professionals in the world of video production and media, so that the youths will be able to create and produce their own public service announcements (PSAs).

The PSAs will then be shown to the teens’ peers, to help spread the word about various high-risk situations that they or their friends may encounter.

“I want to create a buzz about this,” Kong said, “because I’m very proud of what these kids are going to be doing.”

Balls won the ECW Tag team titles 3 separate times , twice with Spike Dudley and once with Masato Tanaka. After ECW folded, Balls spent time in a number of independent federations across America, most notably USA Pro Wrestling (UXW). In 2006 when the WWE restarted ECW Balls was one of the first ECW Originals signed and Balls started his WWE/ECW career by feuding with Kevin Thorn, The Miz, Matt Striker, Big Daddy V and in his last WWE match he was attacked and chokslammed by The Undertaker.

We also have former WWE/WCW and ECW Superstar Jerry Lynn ....Lynn is a wrestling legend who After leaving WCW, Lynn joined Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Also on the Show is former WWF/WCW and ECW Superstar 2 Cold Scorpio who debuted in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as Ron Simmons' mystery partner at Clash of the Champions XXI on November 18, 1992. He also had a brief reign as World Tag Team Champion with Marcus Bagwell in October 1993. In 1994 he debuted in ECW, where he had four reigns as World Television Champion and one reign as World Tag Team Champion with The Sandman. During his simultaneous reign as Television and Tag Team Champion, he insisted on being referred to as 2 Gold Scorpio. He had feuds with wrestlers such as Taz, Shane Douglas, Sabu, and Mikey Whipwreck. Scorpio made his WWF debut on November 17 at Survivor Series under the name Flash Funk. During his time there, his gimmick involved dancing, wearing a zoot suit, and being accompanied to the ring by his "Fly Girls" or "Funkettes" (years before the WWF would debut an admitted pimp, The Godfather, who was accompanied by his "hoes"). He later reverted to the Scorpio name teaming with WCW teammate and friend Ron Simmons as well as Terry Funk through most of 1998. He would soon after become a member of Al Snow's J.O.B. Squad.

In 1990 Pro Wrestling would never be the same as Big Vito Lograsso made his pro wrestling debut and entering ECW as Skull Von Krush and becoming on of the Baldies and feuding right off the bat with New Jack. Vito then went to WCW where he teamed with Johnny The Bull to form the Mamalukes and win the WCW tag team titles twice and Vito also won the WCW Hardcore title in 2005 Vito entered the WWE and started teaming with Nunzio.Various wrestlers such as Orlando Jordan and Paul Burchill began approaching Nunzio in backstage situations and spreading rumors that they had, in storyline, seen Vito in public places in various forms of cross-dress.Nunzio originally wouldn't hear of any such thing until the June 2 SmackDown! when Vito came down the ramp, in a dress, to collect Nunzio after losing a match. The next week, after arguing about Vito's clothing choices, the two former friends faced each other in a match which Vito won after hitting Nunzio with The Code of Silence. Not long after, Nunzio joined the ECW brand, leaving Vito on SmackDown! alone.

The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez has also been added to the show and for those of you who dont know about The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez well then your missing out on one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots. Fernandez is known as one of the toughest wrestlers to ever step into the ring and is a former NWA World Tag Team champion with Dusty Rhodes and Rick Rude. A few years later he entered the AWA feuding with Wahoo McDaniel after he attacked Wahoo and destroyed his headdress. The two veterans, who had feuded briefly in the NWA, engaged in an "Indian Strap Match" at the AWA pay-per-view Super Clash III. The match was so bloody and violent that ESPN, who had the AWA television contract at the time, would not air the match, and has not to this day. Fernandez spent 3 years playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fernandez has made it clear he is coming to Florida to find The Hated Sheik!

Reality Star Matt Riviera Makes Strong Bid to Join New Trump Show; Still in Talks for New Projects

(Tampa, FL) --- Matt Riviera, pro wrestler/Reality TV star and movie actor/producer, is closer to his next big project after a near-miss involving billionaire Donald Trump’s new Reality/dating show.

Riviera made it to the final 20 men considered for Trump’s new “The Ultimate Merger,” a dating show designed to find a bachelor for a female star, rumored to be Omarosa from Trump’s “The Apprentice.” Twelve men were ultimately chosen to be contestants.

But that’s OK, because Riviera’s experience vying for the “Merger” show, which included a trip to Las Vegas, has only helped his other pursuits.

“I’ve been in talks with Reality TV and Hollywood producers about new projects featuring me,” Riviera said recently upon returning from Las Vegas. “Making it as far as I did for the Trump show didn’t hurt those talks at all.”

Riviera added that the new projects are both Reality and non-Reality in nature.

Riviera appeared on VH1’s “Megan Wants a Millionaire” over the summer—another show featuring men vying for a woman’s heart.

Riviera has had a very busy and productive 2009 because of all his endeavors in the entertainment and pro wrestling industries. He did the VH1 show, has participated in several pro wrestling shows—including a very successful charity event—and starred in and co-produced a new movie.

“It’s an exciting time,” Riviera said. “Interest in me is high and I’m weighing all my options at this point.”

May 16-17, 2003 saw the beginning of the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup, a sixteen competitor cruiserweight tournament in honor of the fallen star. Each year since the event has grown to international levels. Previous winners include, “Reckless Youth” Tom Carter, Justice, Chris Sabin, Milano Collection AT, Chris Hero, and Erick Stevens.

The 2009 Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup will take place over the course of 2 evenings, Friday November 20th, 2009 and Saturday November 21st, 2009 at the Brooksville, Florida and Crystal River, Florida National Guard Armories respectively.

In a new twist for this year’s event, the 16 participants for the tournament will come from 4 of the hottest independent companies in the US, with each company entering 4 wrestlers to represent their company. This year’s field will represent Florida’s own Full Impact Pro Wrestling, Philadelphia’s Combat Zone Wrestling, Chicago’s AAW, and Ohio’s Hybrid Pro Wrestling.

The final four entrants into the 2009 JPC have been named, and come to the field from Hybrid Pro Wresting in Ohio. Representing Hybrid will be:

1. FLIP KENDRICK
2. DAVE COLE
3. MARION FONTAINE
4. LOUIS LYNDON

This announcement completes the field and brings the number of athletes entered to a total of 16. We will announce the first round pairings in the coming days so stay tuned for more updates.

Tournament officials are happy to announce that making their 3rd straight appearances as play by play and color commentators for the DVD release of this event are Lenny Leonard and Scott Hudson.

Lenny is currently the voice of Dragon Gate USA on PPV and DVD as well as Full Impact Pro Wrestling, while Scott is a veteran of the Monday Night Wars and his extensive career has seen him as part of the broadcast team for WCW on both TV and PPV.

JPC officials had informed us that as a special added bonus for fans who purchase VIP tickets, there was to be an exclusive preshow card featuring Pro Wrestling Riot on both evenings. The preshow card will take place at 6:30 pm, and was to be only for those fans that had or will purchase VIP tickets to each event. Tournament officials today have announced that the Pro Wrestling Riot preshow card will also now be available to any ticketholders that buy 1st row tickets for either event as well… Tickets are moving fast so don’t miss out on this extra added bonus.

The 8 men eliminated in round 1 of the JPC will be entered into FRAY, which will be taped for inclusion as a special bonus match on the DVD release of Dragon Gate USA’s 11/28 Open the Freedom Gate Tournament .

The rules of Fray are simple. There will be eight participants. Their entry into the match will be drawn at random. The match will start with two contestants. Every two minutes another competitor will join Fray. Eliminations can take place at anytime by pinfall, submission or DQ. There are no count outs. The final survivor is your winner.

Violence promises to be on tap for Night 2!

The fiery rhetoric is starting to heat up between Ron Bass and Sean Davis in advance of their Texas Bullrope Match on night 2 of the JPC. Both men have been trading angry comments back and forth, and when we had the opportunity this week to check on the preparations for each man, that didn’t change at all.

Ron Bass invited us out to his ranch in North Hillsborough county to talk and it didn’t take long to see the veteran tough guy means business. Bass was “back in the saddle” as it was, riding and roping cattle before heading into the barn to throw some heavy weights around and hit the heavy bag. It is clear Bass is taking this very seriously, and that could spell trouble for Sean Davis. “I had heard how Davis stuck is nose into things when I got to FIP, but I didn’t hear how big his mouth was. Well come November 21st I’m gonna do something I don’t think has ever been done before. I’m gonna shut that fat windbag’s mouth…permanently.”

Sean Davis however was content to let his mouth so his working out when we stopped by. “Old man Bass doesn’t stand a chance against me. What is he now, like 80? Well this isn’t 1983, and I’m no Dirty Yellow Dog. November 21st I’m gonna do to you what they did to Old Yeller. I’m gonna take you out back, and put you out of your misery.”

--Renovation of vacant hotel among ideas to ease pain of homeless in Hillsborough County--

Tampa, FL – Florida State House candidate Brian Blair, continuing to offer up innovative, aggressive ideas, has now turned his attention to the plight of Hillsborough County’s homeless.

Blair calls it thinking “outside the box,” and the same visionary approach that has worked wonders in developing new, sheltered bus stops for county residents is now being applied to those who find themselves without a roof over their heads, period.

Blair, the former county commissioner who seeks District 47’s seat in the 2010 election, has proposed renovating at least one vacant hotel so that it may house hundreds of homeless people.

“It makes sense, across the board,” Blair said recently. “Hotels are already equipped for sheltering people. And it would, at the same time, help the homeless and create jobs,” he added.

Blair says the plan would entail selecting a vacant hotel and targeting it for renovation. Then, county homeless people would be moved in—after background checks—with attention paid to grouping them by gender and/or families. Blair said, though, that people wouldn’t be able to stay there indefinitely, in order to ensure that vacancies would be created for others.

Blair says start-up funding would be asked for from the countless agencies already working closely with the homeless, like the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and others. He added that people benefiting from the program could become “in-house” workers to help maintain the premises, through training.

Other potential partners in such a project, Blair said, could be natural tie-in groups like Meals on Wheels and Seniors in Service.

“It’s not that county residents don’t feel that the homeless should have a place to stay, but the question is always, ‘Where?,’” Blair said. “Hotels are generally away from neighborhoods and shopping centers,” he added.

Blair’s suggestion is different from the “tent city” proposal by Catholic Charities that the Hillsborough County Commission killed in a 4-3 vote on October 13, 2009.

Blair noted that he hopes a mechanism could be put in place whereby local people—like those who’ve lost jobs, etc.—are helped first.

Blair said he’s confident that he has some initial support from within the county, encouraged by a discussion he had in 2008 with Department of Social Services department head Dave Rogoff, who Blair said “seemed to really like the concept.”

Blair, a Republican, announced in August that he was seeking the State House seat for District 47, which includes portions of Hillsborough County and will be vacated by fellow Republican Kevin Ambler in 2010. Ambler is term limited and is running for State Senate.

A silent auction will be held to benefit All Children's Hospital, the only specialty licensed children's hospital on Florida's west coast.

The auction is being held in conjunction with the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup, an annual professional wrestling tournament that will take place the weekend of November 20 and 21, 2009 at the National Guard Armories in Brooksville and Crystal River, Florida.

The tournament honors Jeff Peterson, a promising young wrestler who was stricken with cancer and passed away in 2002.

New Florida Junior Heavyweight Champion Crowned

(Tampa, FL) – This past Friday night, October 30, in Tampa, Florida, Craig Classic became the fourth NWA Pro Wrestling Fusion Florida Junior Heavyweight Champion by defeating Chris Jones. Jones, who demanded this match take place after being attacked and left laying by Classic on October 17 in Ft. Pierce, Florida, battled to the end but eventually fell victim to the Blue Thunder Driver.

Chris Jones is going to have to wait for his rematch because Craig Classic was offered and has accepted another tour of Big Japan Pro Wrestling. This will be his 10th tour of Japan since 2006. Upon receiving word of Craig's returning to Japan, he has received offers from multiple wrestling organizations throughout Japan. Craig is planning on taking the Florida Junior Heavyweight Title with him to defend it against any and all junior heavyweights in Japan.

(Tampa, FL) --- It’s an image that harkens back to the days of World War II: posters and photos of pinup girls plastered around soldiers’ barracks, in a tried and true way of keeping morale high.

But in 2009, that method is being kicked up a notch. And a nationally-known pro wrestling diva—who’s also a model and actress—is at the forefront of the effort.

Amy Vitale, known to men everywhere for things such as being a pro wrestling manager, appearing in movies and on television, and being the lead spokes model for Black Art Beer, is being branded as the face and figure of The Patriot Girls, a national organization that means to support U.S. troops stationed overseas.

“Pinup girls used to be just a photo on someone’s wall,” Vitale said recently about her alliance with The Patriot Girls. “But The Patriot Girls show that simply being attractive isn’t where our support stops.”

Formed in May 2007, The Patriot Girls volunteer their time to create patriotic and military themed images and products from which they donate a portion of their profits to charities that benefit the soldiers and their families.

It’s not done just by posing for cameras, either. The girls host various events nationwide, raise money with fundraising efforts, and assemble care packages for the troops. In 2008, The Patriot Girls donated $1 from each calendar sold to the Wounded Warrior Project.

In the spotlight is Vitale, who’s been most recently seen on Fox News, the CW network, on TV shows such as USA Network’s “Burn Notice,” and most famously as part of G.L.O.R.Y. Wrestling.

(Crystal River, FL) – Sixteen top cruiserweight professional wrestlers will compete in a tournament that, for the seventh straight year, will honor the memory of one of their fallen comrades.

The Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup will be at stake when four of the country’s leading independent wrestling entities each send four wrestlers into a tournament that is now in its seventh year.

Pro Wrestling Uncensored Hits the Mat, Promises History-Making Event

(Orlando, FL) – Florida, already a hotbed for professional wrestling, is about to get another player—and they mean action.

Pro Wrestling Uncensored is a new organization that promises over-the-top action and “hardcore” matches, and first proof will come December 5 in Orlando.

Titled “The Beginning,” the live event will feature 12 huge matches, one of which will crown the first-ever Pro Wrestling Uncensored (PWU) World Heavyweight Champion.

Former WWE megastar Big Vito has issued an open challenge to independent star Francisco Ciatso, who’ll be accompanied by his manager, Florida legend “The Hardcore Giant” Ron Niemi.

Helping to round out the star-studded card are names like The Sheik, the British Lions, the Heartbreak Express, Ray Beez, and the Masked Maniac.

With the magnitude of this card, PWU is hitting the pro wrestling circuit hard in its maiden voyage.

(Lake Grove, NY) – A local mall became an impromptu meeting place of wrestling icons when female superstar Awesome Kong joined Hulk Hogan during a book signing.

Awesome Kong, multiple-time Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Women's Knockout Champion and former National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Women's Champion, appeared with former WWE and WCW World Champion Hogan at a book signing in Lake Grove on Tuesday, adding her larger-than-life, big time support to the publicity of Hogan’s “My Life Outside the Ring,” recently published.

When Hogan saw the world champion wrestler arrive at the Barnes and Noble bookstore in the Smith Haven Mall, he pointed to her and proclaimed, “I’m a BIG fan of yours!”

-- Hillsborough County residents enjoyed largest ad valorem tax cut in county history --

Tampa, FL – Florida State House candidate Brian Blair keeps it simple when it comes to talking about his accomplishments as a Hillsborough County Commissioner.

“Tax cuts. Fiscal responsibility. And not taking no for an answer too easily,” Blair said recently as he spoke of his qualifications for the Florida State House seat that he seeks in 2010.

Blair served as County Commissioner for District 6 from 2004-08, and in that time frame his accomplishments shared the underlying theme of saving taxpayers money and being persistent.

On Blair’s watch, the county achieved its largest ad valorem tax cut in its history, part of a four-year term which resulted in a savings for taxpayers of over a billion dollars per year.

The list of money-saving measures is impressive: Cutting the storm water tax (saving taxpayers about $300 million); saving $100,000 in sidewalk repairs; opposing cable television fee increases; promoting a Florida Tax Watch audit of county budget and policies; and various other measures designed to create more fiscal accountability when it comes to county government.

All that, plus Blair was instrumental in helping to broker a deal that resulted in hundreds of new, sheltered bus stops being built—after initially being told that it couldn’t be done without spending a lot of money.

“It’s easy to say something can’t be done,” Blair said, “because it doesn’t take much effort to say no. But it’s amazing what you can do, what money you can save, if you commit yourself to being fiscally responsible,” he added.

(Russellville, AR) – Pro wrestler Matt Riviera, also a star of reality TV, is basking in the glow of a highly successful event that occurred recently in his hometown of Russellville, AR.

Dubbed “Russellmania,” Riviera’s wrestling card not only thrilled fans, but also raised much-needed funds for the Boys and Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley.

Held on September 12, Russellmania set an attendance record—packing over 700 people into the LV Williamson Boys & Girls Club building. Over 300 tickets were given away to elementary school kids.

“We raised over $2,600,” Riviera said proudly of the financial shot in the arm that the Boys and Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley are now enjoying.

Riviera, who also wrestled on the card, said that legendary wrestler Buddy Landel told him something that was very poignant.

“Buddy said that his match at Russellmania was his best one since his Smokey Mountain days,” Riviera related.

Fans waited in line for the doors to open, and their patience was rewarded with non-stop action, which was met with raucous cheers.

“The crowd was amazing,” Riviera said. “I can tell you that we wrestlers really fed off it.”

Riviera, fresh off a summer in which he starred in a VH1 reality show and helped produce a movie, was glad to help kids near his hometown.

Pro Wrestler Gets His Chance at the World Title

(Tampa, FL) – Speaking animatedly and through his interpreter, champion wrestler The Sheik spoke enthusiastically about his upcoming shot at the NWA World Title, a chance that’s been a long time coming.

The Iranian-born Sheik, in his 12^th year of professional wrestling, will finally get his chance at a world championship when he faces current title holder Blue Demon Jr. on October 24 in Chicago. The winner will hold the NWA Heavyweight Title Belt. And to hear The Sheik say it, this opportunity is long overdue.

“I have worked hard. I have beaten some of the best. It’s my time now,” were The Sheik’s translated words about the NWA Title bout with Blue Demon Jr., whose legend began in Mexico.

The Sheik, who uses his name with the consent of legendary wrestler Sabu, is currently the Pro Wrestling Fusion Florida champion.

“I deserve this match. No one has my intensity,” The Sheik says.

The Sheik is perhaps most remembered for his long-standing feud with Savio Vega, which began in Puerto Rico in 2008 and still has people there talking. The feud culminated in a shocking Globe of Death match—The Sheik and Vega alone in a steel, globe-shaped cage—in front of over 8,000 fans.

The Sheik held the Pro Wrestling Fusion Heavyweight Title from May 2008 until February 2009, defending it many times.

The Sheik has also appeared in Pro Wrestling Fusion matches with partner Meng to form a fearsome tag team. He’s been wrestling professionally since 1998.

His eyes dancing and his adrenalin pumping, The Sheik had some final words.

Tampa, FL – Brian Blair’s refusal to take “no” for an answer is paying off for Hillsborough County residents.

Blair, a candidate for Florida House of Representatives in 2010, has convinced HART (Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority) to build more bus shelters for its passengers. Over 125 in the past nine months, in fact.

“I addressed the board while serving on it that we cannot expect people to stand out in the elements or stand at a bus stop sign,” Blair said recently of his efforts. “We need more shelters, and we need them now.”

But the answer, initially, was no—there wasn’t any money to purchase the shelters.

So Blair simply refused to accept that, and went to work.

“We put out a request for proposal to trade classy advertisement rights in exchange for building bus shelters—at no cost to the taxpayer,” Blair said. The result was over 125 new shelters constructed in the past nine months, according to HART officials—all because of the trade arrangement. And plans are for between 200 and 300 more to be built, thanks to Blair’s efforts.

Blair, a Republican and former Hillsborough County Commissioner, announced in August that he was seeking the State House seat for District 47, which includes portions of Hillsborough County and will be vacated by fellow Republican Kevin Ambler in 2010. Ambler is term limited and is running for State Senate.

Blair launched his State House campaign with the promise that he will be fiscally responsible and a friend to taxpayers, a reputation he built as a County Commissioner.

The deal he brokered with HART for new bus shelters is further proof of that, he says.

“Each shelter costs roughly $25,000 to build, including materials and labor, so the savings to taxpayers, so far, by trading costs for classy advertisement rights is approximately $3.2 million,” Blair said. “And if the projections are accurate, county taxpayers will have over 300 new shelters at a savings of at least $7.5 million,” he added.

Blair says that the new shelters are “popping up everywhere” in the county, and regular passengers should already be noticing.

ABOUT DOREEN TAYLOR

Doreen Taylor is a classically trained singer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal performance from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT and a Masters degree in Opera performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is extremely versatile and unique with acclaimed professional performances in genres such as opera, musical theater, country, jazz, and swing/standards and pop.

In addition to numerous leading operatic roles in many opera companies throughout the United States, including the prestigious Des Moines Metro Opera Company, she has had lead roles in two Broadway national tour companies. She originated the lead role of “Cunegonde” in Philadelphia’s Scottish Opera premiere of “Candide” where the Philadelphia Daily News critically acclaimed her as “an up and coming star…amazing” and the lead role of “Tytania” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream where the Philadelphia Inquirer stated, “She possesses the voice of an angel…flawless and beautiful”.

Growing up in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY, Doreen Taylor began professionally performing at a very young age. She is not only a superb singer, but has won numerous awards in songwriting, acting and dancing. A former “beauty queen”, Doreen has been a model for several publications and has been showcased in several performing groups, including but not limited to, Spirit of Youth- an international singing and dancing tour group based out of New York. She has performed the National Anthem for the Philadelphia Phantoms, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins and Buffalo Bisons. She recently was selected to perform for The Philadelphia 13^th Annual Law Enforcement Run and Head to Head: Celebrity Boxing 7. Ms. Taylor was the featured soloist with the Golden State Pops Orchestra in Los Angeles and has performed extensively in Atlantic City Casinos and countless venues throughout the country. Doreen Taylor released her first demo CD, "Unbreakable" to rave reviews and has had air play on several Philadelphia radio stations. She was also a featured solo singer in the "Smokin' Joe Frazier Revue" opposite the great former heavyweight champ, Joe Frazier.

WRESTLING STAR TO AID IN CONCUSSION RESEARCH

(Quincy, MA) – Former WWE Superstar “The Promise” Antonio Thomas, is combining brains with brawn—literally.

Thomas is the latest professional wrestler to donate his brain to concussion research.

The Sports Legacy Institute (SLI), founded by former WWE wrestler Chris Nowinski and Dr. Robert Cantu, is the recipient of Thomas’s donation, which is part of an effort to further understand concussions and their effect on the brain.

The SLI, founded in 2008, is dedicated to advancing the health and wellness of athletes and improving the safety of sports & other athletic endeavors.

“It’s the least I can do, to help other wrestlers and athletes after me,” Thomas says of his involvement with the SLI.

Former NHL star Keith Primeau, whose career was cut short due to multiple concussions, is among the professional athletes who’ve pledged to donate their brains after death, joining several pro wrestlers in the cause.

Wrestling-wise, “The Promise” will appear at the New England Championship Wrestling (NECW) “Tag Team Classic” on Saturday, September 19, in Quincy, MA.

Thomas was tight-lipped but excited about the event.

“The fans will have to wait and see what I have in store, and I’ll have to wait to see their reaction. But it’s going to be awesome,” Thomas says of the NECW event in Quincy.

Thomas is fresh off an appearance on “The Figure Four Daily,” a very popular Internet radio show about wrestling, hosted by pro grappler Bryan Alvarez. Thomas appeared on September 8.

“’Figure Four Daily’ is a major wrestling talk show,” Thomas said when asked about his appearance. “It’s really big, and I’m proud to be a part of it now.”

ABOUT “THE PROMISE” ANTONIO THOMAS

Antonio Thomas began his training at the late great Killer Kowalski's briefly in 2001 before continuing his training under longtime New England standout Kevin Landry.

Antonio made his professional debut in late 2001 before emerging throughout the New England area shortly thereafter working regularly for top promotions including New England Championship Wrestling, Chaotic Wrestling, and Eastern Wrestling Alliance.

Thomas was called up to WWE Raw in April 2005 where he became one half of the re-named "Heart Throbs" and where he produced memorable feuds with William Regal and Tajiri, Hurricane and Rosey, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, Val Venis and Viscera.

In May 2009, Antonio won the prestigious NECW Iron 8 Tournament. Winning the Iron 8, defeating some of the best in professional wrestling today, takes Thomas to the next level and proves to the world that he is the future of professional wrestling.

In addition to a hectic and busy wrestling schedule, Thomas is a lifelong workout and fitness enthusiast in addition to being a certified personal trainer, working his way towards an eventual Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning.
